I’m in my mid 40′s with a husband and two kids. All my property is in joint ownership with my husband or held in retirement and securities accounts where I have named a beneficiary to inherit with no probate. In short I need a will (plus a healthcare directive) and got it from Quicken Willmaker at a very reasonable price. Since I didn’t need a living trust, I didn’t miss it. Having read the information on probate avoidance in Nolo’s legal encyclopedia it appears that law changes in the last decade mean that few people really need a living trust! But I’ll leave that to you.

It took me just 30 minutes to make my will using Willmaker 2010. I showed to my brother-in-law, the fancy lawyer (OK, he’s also a nice guy) and he gave it two thumbs up. And, oh by the way Willmaker is about half the price of “Legal Zoom”. And I get Nolo’s famous reliability.

I used WillMaker five years ago and was satisfied with it. But by now I’ve been through a divorce and had two two kids with my new spouse. Clearly I needed a new will. And you know what I found that the 2010 version of Willmaker is even better designed than the old one. Not to mention the fact that Nolo does a superb job with the help. I did the whole job in 20 minutes and still can’t believe that I put it off for two years. I’ve been a long time Nolo fan and the new WillMaker just confirms that they haven’t lost their mojo.

I needed a will and a health care directive. All my property is held in pay-on-death. Therefore I had no need of a Living Trust to avoid probate. I found Willmaker 2010 to be intuitive, informative and easy to use. A lawyer I called quoted me $500 to do the same things. Hey I saved over $450. What a deal!
