I would consider myself knowledgeable on the subject of Twitter and new media in general, but this book offered me a really nice big picture view of how I might better use it. If you’re just starting out in the world of Twitter and marketing in general, this is going to get you started in a really thorough way. Of course, some basic Twitter knowledge will be useful as a starting point. And if you’re a Twitter pro, you’ll appreciate the insight of another power user.
Twitter Marketing for Dummies isn’t just a how-to, in many ways it’s also a why-to as well. Lacy really gets at the various reasons businesses might want to get started with some kind of Twitter marketing and electronic marketing in general. The book definitely comes at the topic from a business standpoint, but I think its principles will be useful to anyone who is looking to invest in Twitter as a marketing medium.
Perhaps the most useful element of the book is the substantial collection of online tools that Lacy has amassed. You will learn of Twitter-based sites that you’ve never heard of before. The “Top Tens” section of the book is great, and the appendix “Great Twitter Marketing Ideas in 140 Characters or less” is, of course, apropos.
Whether you’re a beginner looking for a solid introduction to harnessing the power of Twitter or a seasoned veteran searching for new ideas, this book will offer something useful for you.

Don’t be fooled by the title, this book is for every level of Twitter user, from someone who doesn’t even know what Twitter is, to someone who has maybe used Twitter for years. Kyle will take you from the very basics of twitter, to the more advanced methods of how to market on this highly popular social media tool.
The greatest facet of this book is that Kyle writes not only from his own experience as a business owner who uses Twitter as a marketing tool, but he has taken the time to gather the experiences of others from a wide variety of situations so that his book wouldn’t too one-sided and could apply to anyone who is interested in using Twitter as a marketing tool.
You will get as much as out of this book as you want to, all the information you need to know is in the text. If you are at all interested in finding out how Twitter can help you, then this should be your first source for information. Thank you Kyle, for showing me that social media is changing the way we do business and build relationships, and that it is not an impossible, but rather enjoyable task to keep up with this new media.

I just finished reading Twitter Marketing for Dummies. As someone who joined Twitter a year ago but only recently became an active user both personally and professionally, this book has been a major help to me.

I’ve been on Twitter since the beginning and so I didn’t think that I would see anything new in this book. But I was wrong! And happy about being wrong too. Because this book did something a lot of other Twitter articles and books don’t do — it put Twitter in the practical context of actually accomplishing marketing goals.
As the host of [...] (where it’s all about learning how to actually DO a marketing task — like taking on Twitter as a tool to achieve a marketing goal) – I was looking for some specifics – such as: How to build a community, how to build a list, how to promote your business without spamming, etc. All of these how-to’s were in there — and then some.
In addition to the how-to information, Lacy also provides oodles of websites to help you manage the sometimes chaotic world of Twitter. (this was actually my favorite component of the book.
Twitter newbies will love the practical step-by-step guides to setting up profiles and accounts as well as the helpful tips that the rest of us had to learn the hard way. Intermediate users will not be disappointed because Lacy gives you great ideas that you can use to take your program to the next level. Advanced users will simply have a great resource at arm’s length to actually refer to that will put context on what you’ve learned so that you can better educate other people.
Overall, Twitter Marketing for Dummies isn’t for Dummies at all – it’s for the smart marketer who wants to get even better, stronger and faster at achieving their goals.
