Improving the Microwave System With ATPC
Automatic Transmit Power Control (ATPC) is a feature of a digital microwave radio link that adjusts transmitter output power based on the varying signal level at the receiver. ATPC allows the transmitter to operate at less than maximum power for most of the time; when fading conditions occur, transmit power will be increased as needed until the maximum is reached. In adaptive mode the automatic transmit power control function is used to automatically control the output power. The output power is continuously adjusted so as to maintain a minimum input level set from the far end terminal. Under normal path conditions, the ATPC maintains the output power at a reduced level, resulting in a lower interference level in the radio network.
