Police Raid Google Korea
In response to allegations of illegal data collection, South Korean police have raided the offices of Google Korea. According to the WSJ:
“The National Police Agency said it is investigating whether the U.S. company collected and stored private information illegally while it prepared for the South Korean launch of its Street View mapping service, which provides panoramic views of streets for Internet search users.”
In May 2010, Google officials admitted their Street View vehicles had been collecting and storing unencrypted wi-fi transmissions.
